Emmanuel d'Alzon Library will make every effort to purchase materials that support our undergraduate and graduate curricula. Some departments have specific policies in place for ordering library materials. For instance, some department chairs place all orders for their department, while other department chairs allow all department members to request materials through their Library department liaison. Please check with your department chair.
To request a purchase of either print or electronic items (including streaming video), please submit the Purchase Request Form or contact your liaison. Orders usually take 4-6 weeks to become available, but please let us know if you need a rush order.
Books on order are searchable in our Classic Catalog. Order information appears in capital letters, and you will see the designation "On Order" or "Received."
Once a book or movie is added to the collection, a location and call number will indicate where to find the item in the Library.
Streaming video content is available to faculty from the Library. Both the Kanopy and Docuseek2 video collections are interdisciplinary and fully copyright compliant. Both allow users to create clips or post links to entire films. Closed captioning is available for most films.
Kanopy contains thousands of films including documentaries, training films, and theatrical releases.
Docuseek2 is a collection of documentaries.
The Library will make an effort to purchase licenses to stream individual titles not found in Kanopy or Docuseek2. Licensed titles are available from the Library catalog, and links can be posted to Brightspace. Several weeks may be needed to set up access to individual titles, so plan ahead!
