HON 300 - Honors Seminar: Other Styles

Theology

The Society of Biblical Literature (SBL) has its own citation style for writing in the fields of ancient Near Eastern, Biblical, and Early Christian Studies.  Use this style when your professor has instructed you to do so.

There is an online Student Supplement for The SBL Handbook of Style.

For the print manual in the library, see below.

Citation in Sociology

Your Sociology professor may ask you to follow the American Sociological Association (ASA) Style Guide to cite sources.  You might find helpful: Quick Tips for ASA Style - from the ASA, a 2-page document for students with sample citations for common source types. The Online Writing Center (OWL) at Purdue University also has this guide on formatting, in-text, and full text citations in ASA.

Chemistry

We have several books on American Chemical Society (ACS) Style, or science writing in general.

In addition, here are some links to science-oriented style guides. Always ask your professor which citation style you should use.
