A new initiative sponsored by the D’Amour Center for Teaching Excellence for the creation of an anthology to be used as the First-Year Common Book for all incoming classes, not just the class of 2026. A number of important benefits to a common anthology, include providing continuity through a shared intellectual experience across all class years and faculty, and the opportunity to incorporate different angles, points of view, topics, and disciplines.
The focus of this year's anthology involves the exploration of education and work, and readings took place in June, and August. In June, the readings goal is to help the reader see that education is transformative because it helps you to see and understand the world better.
