Current students, faculty, and staff may borrow library materials with a valid Assumption University ID card.

Retired faculty and staff, Assumption Religious, and community members may apply for a library card with limited borrowing privileges. Please see a library staff member during business hours (Monday to Friday 8:30am-4:30pm).

Associate = Affiliated Religious, Retired Faculty and Staff
Community = Alumni, ARC Faculty, ARC Student, WISE, Community Patrons
 

Courtesy Notices

For items in our main collection*, the library will send courtesy notices via email at the following intervals:

• 2 weeks prior to due date
• 1 week prior to due date
• on the due date

If items are neither returned nor renewed on/before the due date, the borrower will receive overdue notices via email at the following intervals:

• 1 week overdue
• 2 weeks overdue
• 3 weeks overdue
• 4 weeks overdue

At 5 weeks overdue, any outstanding items will be marked Lost and generate a bill. Fees as of Fall 2024 are as follows:

• $90 replacement fee per item (subject to adjustment at librarian's discretion if item deemed rare/valuable)
• $30 processing fee per item

Borrowers with excess fees may be subject to loss of privileges.

*Reserve items with a 3-hour loan will receive an overdue notice if not returned or renewed within 30 minutes of their due date. After 24 hours, items will be marked Lost and a bill will be issued for Reserves not returned.

Faculty (and students) may borrow directly from libraries in the Academic and Research Collaborative (ARC). Please obtain an ARC direct borrowing card at the d'Alzon Library Front Desk, in order to borrow directly from an ARC member library.

Assumption University students, faculty, and staff may request materials that are not held by the d’Alzon Library through the ILLiad Interlibrary Loan system, which allows users to place, track, and renew requests online. Most articles are delivered electronically to your ILLiad account within 3 days. Books that are available locally will often arrive in just a few days, but it is best to plan on 7-10 days to receive other books.
